ABOUT US

The Deep Space Navigator is a highly accurate, yet affordable telescope-computer interface. We began the design and manufacture of the Navigator in 1994 when we became dissatisfied with the performance of existing computer interfaces. We were sure that it was possible to design our own system that would provide accurate pointing for our own telescopes. Working with David Chandler, the author of Deep Space, Paul Hawkins and I designed and tested the first Navigator. It worked so well, we decided to manufacture the unit and sell it to other amateur astronomers.

Today, we are still making the same quality unit and have sold them to many satisfied customers all over the world. We are also working on the development of a Go-To motor drive system for Dobsonian style mounts that will work as well as the Navigator and be as reasonably priced as the Navigator. We call this system the Deep Space Pilot. We continue to support as many of our customers as possible by offering custom machining of encoder mounting kits to fit literally any mount made.

In addition to Deep Space software, the Navigator is compatible with The Sky and we have released the communication protocol to several other developers over the last few years. It is our intent to continue support of our customers with future developments in both hardware and software.
